I recently replaced our original Drinkwell after five years of use. The filter had finally given up the ghost and many of the plastic edges of various parts had become brittle and cracked off, causing leakage.
I debated whether or not to spend the extra money on the Platinum model or just buy the original again, seeing as how I already have a reservoir and several filters. I went with the Platinum, though, and it was worth the money.
When the Platinum Fountain came, I liked it, then set it up and was impressed with the improvements. The cats took about 20 seconds to get over being scaredy cats, and love it. Glad I have it. Will probably by another one.
